Chapter26---High Quality of Facility Construction Project well Promoted in Taichung Port |

In order to accelerate the exploitation of the specialized logistics zone of Taichung Port, the port authority properly offered the land for the investment of factories. In this area, there’re well-planned infrastructures, containing transportation nets, drainage works, sewage treatments, electric power projects, telecommunications, etc., in order to attract enterprises investment and to activate the economic development of central Taiwan. The total cost amounts to 467.7 million NTD, and the construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.
The zone, being near the wharf, covers an area of 82.55 hectares, and is located in the center of Taichung Harbor. The nearby land transportation is very convenient, which connects T. Road no1and no3, as well as Freeway NO.1 and NO.3 The specialized logistics zone has an advantage of both sea and land transportation.
The engineers paid much attention to the balance of excavation as well as filling of earth in the project. The reductant earth was filled in the base and roadway in order to avoid the energy consumption from the inbound and outbound transport, as well as the emission of carbon dioxide. We’ve also developed the landscape details in planting arbors, bushes, greensward, and planning the sidewalks, which will provide relevant employees with a comfortable environment.
The construction project is involved in the “High Tech Industry Composing Alternatives in Central Taiwan,” proposed by President Ma. For progressive enforcement by the government, the port authority is duty-bound and takes more proactive and cautious measures towards the management and control of the quality and progress of the project. Since the construction goes smoothly and on schedule, it shows the mutual corporation between the construction team and Bureau staff. As the targeted goals are expectedly met, the main construction project was even proposed to join the Engineering Quality Award held by Ministry of Transportation and Communication. The auditing result was fortunately received grade A. With corporation, we are full of confidence to conduct the project punctually with quality by the end of year 2009.
