PREFACE

• The ship & machinery repair works was established in March 1976 and in July of the same year the works began providing comprehensive maintenance services for port service vessels, vehicles, working vessels and commercial vessels in the Port of Taichung. Through years of facilities expansion, the business has grown rapidly. In June 1984 the dry dock enlargement was accomplished, which upgraded the maintenance capability of the works. In 1985, the works entered the full operation stage.
  

BUSINESS RANGE AND CAPABILITY

1. IN-DOCK MAINTENANCE: To perform annual repairing, overhaul, regular inspection and special inspection for all types of commercial vessels under 10000 tons and working vessels in the dock.
2. BERTH MAINTENANCE: To perform inspection and maintenance for berthing vessels.

MAJOR FACILITIES:

1. DOCK- One dry dock, length 152m, width 28m, depth 8m with the following equipment:
   1. 4 sets of 6 ton electric capstan
   2. 2 water suction pump rooms (Each equipped with 2 sets 100kW main pump, one set 50HP auxiliary pump and ventilation systems, etc.)
   3. 2 sets 100HP air compressor
   4. 2 sets dockside control box
   5. Compressed air, fresh water and sea water supply systems.


2. WORKS:
   1. One building metalworking shop with the following equipment:
      1. 1 set 20 ton trolley hoist
      2. 1 set 400 ton universal hydraulic machine
      3. 1 set 50HP hydraulic rolling machine
      4. 1 set 30HP sheet cutting machine
      5. 20 sets electric welder
   
   
   2. One general machining works with the following equipment:
      1. 1 set 5 ton trolley hoist
      2. 3 sets lathe (one 5m, one 2.5m and 2 sets 0.85m)
      3. Slotter
      4. Shaping machine
      5. One each of milling machine and sawing machine
      6. 1 set radial drilling machine
      7. 2 sets vertical drilling machine
      8. 2 sets 100 ton hydraulic press
      9. 4 sets pipe bender
      10. 4 sets woodworking machine
      11. Bench working tools and electric working tools
