General rules over calculation of Port Charges
1. All the computing units used in this tariff are defined as follows:

(1) All the amounts are expressed in the denomination of New Taiwan Dollar (NT$).
(2) All the weights are expressed in the unit of Metric Ton.
(3) All the volumes are expressed in the unit of Cubic Meter.
(4) “PER DAY” means one calendar day.

2. Every lot of cargo is charged with one ton as a minimum computing unit, and any fraction of a ton is counted as a unit of one ton for the lot.
This applies to:

(1)Cargo other than bulk cargo is counted by the weight or volume, whichever value is greater. The length, breadth and height of the volume are measured by their respective outermost part of the cargo.
(2)Bulk cargo is charged by the weight unless otherwise specified. (Lumber is excluded)
(3) Cargo in bulk form are still charged as bulk cargo even if they are
packaged in the hatch or on wharves. They are charged by the measurement in tons after packaging. The cargoes are charged in compliance with the
measurement tons as shown in the import manifest if measured by volume. and If the manifest do not show such measurement values, the cargoes shall be charged by weight with the following additions:


Corn plus 34%

Sugar plus 17%

Vegetable Seed plus 68%

Soy Bean plus 45%

Green Bean plus 40%

Rice plus 28%

Barley plus 62%

Wheat plus 45%

 

(4) Live stock/ animals such as cows, horses and elephants shall be counted as 3
measurement tons each; pigs as 1/2 measurement ton each; while sucking pigs
and other small animals shall be charged by the measurement of the packing.
(5)Packed coke is counted by weight with an additional charge of 170%.As for sawdust and wood chips, it is counted by the weight with an additional charge of 40%. In terms of coke in large packages, it shall be charged in accordance with the actual measurement.
(6)Timber is counted with 1 cubic meter or 424 board feet as one ton and sunken
log is counted by the volume with the addition of 11.8%.
(7)Bunker coal is counted with 5 tons as a minimum computing unit.
(8) Scrap metal handling charge based on regulations below:

  1. Every lot of scrap metal that is pressed into cubes is charged an additional 50%. Those who utilize the shovel will get only additional charge of 25%.
  2. Every lot of pressed scrap metal cubes and scattered metal will get additional 100% charge. Those who utilize the shovel will only get additional 50% charge.
  3. Every lot of only scattered scrap metal will get 200% additional charge. Those who utilize the shovel will only get additional 100% charge.

(9) For commodities not listed in cargo classification, handling charges shall be computed as those for class 4 and storage as those for class 3.
(10) Charges on carrier shall be calculated as the rates effective at the time when loading or discharge commences.
(11) Charges on consignee or shipper shall be calculated at the rates prevailing on the day of taking delivery for turning in & out at storage area.
(12)Other charges shall be calculated at the rates prevailing on the day of operation.
(13) Open rates for special operation or special cargo without being listed in this tariff are subject to negotiation.

(14)National & Memorial Holidays are listed below:

1. New Year’s Day (January 1 & 2)
2. Peace Memorial Day (February 28)
3. Youth Day (March 29)
4. Women and children Day (The day before Tomb sweeping day)
5. Tomb Sweeping Day (April 4 or April 5)
6. Labor Day (May 1)
7. Dragon-Boat festival (May 5 of Chinese Lunar Calendar)
8. Mid-Autumn Festival (August 15 of Chinese Lunar Calendar)
9. Confucius’ Birthday Anniversary (September 28)
10.Double Ten Day (October 10)
11.Taiwan Restoration Day (October 25)
12.Late President Chiang Kai-Shek’s Birthday Anniversary (October 31)
13.Dr.Sun Yat-Sen’s Birthday Anniversary (November 12)
14.Constitution Day (December 25)
15.Chinese Lunar New Year’s Eve (December 29 or 30 of Chinese Lunar Calendar)
16.Chinese Lunar New Year’s Day (1st, 2nd & 3rd Day of Chinese Lunar Year)
17.All other temporary holidays announced by the government.

圖示Overtime Charges

1. Additional charge for working overtime from 1800 to 2400 hrs is NT$17.40 per ton.
2. Maximum additional charge for working overtime from 0000 to 0700 is NT$26.10 per ton.

圖示Additional Charges on National Holidays
1. Harbor Bureau operation determine that a 30% additional port charge shall be collected for working on national publicholidays and on Saturdays or Sundays. There are no additional charges on Memorial Days that are still considered working days.

2. Terminal Operation Charges and Miscellaneous Charges shall be collected on national holidays. Please refer to the attached regulations.
