Tides:
The details of tide ard as follows:
- Mean range: 3.63m.
- Higest hige-water level:5.86m.(1971.9.23)
- Lowest hige-water level:-0.55m.(1988.1.21)
- Mean high-water level: 4.45m.
- Mean low-waer level: 0.82m.
- Mean water level: 2.63m.
Currents:
Current along the coast of Taichung Port composes of longshore current, wind-drift current, tidal current and Kuroshio. According to the preliminary investigation, when wind velocity reached 20 m/sec in the winter monsoon season, the current near the port entrance was about 2.8 knots with the direction of WSW
Waves:
During winter monsoon season , the deep sea waves are mainly from N-NNE, and refract to N direction near the entrance of the port. The singificant wave height is usually about 2 meters with a wave period of 6 seconds. In summer time, the deep sea waves are always from WSW to SW, and both wave height and period are low.
