2010, Taichung Harbor(TCHB) conducted three major basic public construction continuously for major ports inclusive Offshore Seawall Construction Works for Infrastructure Facilities Phase I, Third period Construction of the flying sand renovation in the northern silt area. Specialized industrial zones (II) public facilities new construction and so on.
The Offshore Seawall Construction Works for Infrastructure Facilities Phase I is connected to the consideration of Offshore Seawall Construction water or insufficient space to influence the mooring and steering of the vessel. In order to promote ships steering and navigational security, to set up small-scale passenger ship canal as well as to attract private businesses to invest in building floating berth to dock passenger’s ship, TCHB succeeded in series of dredging, bank revetment construction, Pipeline Relocation and other affiliated facility projects, etc. Total project funding, 244 million dollars, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010.
The Specialized industrial zones (II) public facilities new construction is to expedite the development of this specialized area also to improve the convenience of future land use, to properly undertake roadway, drainage, flood control and associated construction, etc, and to attract business investment, promote entrepreneur investment, increase the harbor terminal transport business quantities and to activate industry's economical activity of Taichung harbor. Total project funding, 465 million dollars, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012.
The Third period Construction of the flying sand renovation in the northern silt area is to solve sand drifting problem in TCHB. To slow down the waterway silting velocity outside the harbour and to maintain the depths of waterway, to ensure the seaport operation not affected by drifting sand, TCHB project to manage windblown and drift sand construction, and to strengthen the defensive capabilities of windblown sand, to reduce the impact of windblown sand on the leeward side effects, to increase the green scenery area in the harbor area, to build water soluble seacoast environment. Total project funding, 692 million dollars, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014.
